Clovis Harkins  Janyce Harkins

Submitted by Clovis E. Harkins

The Harkins family are partly Choctaw. Our great, great, great grandfather, George Washington Harkins I, was a Choctaw chief in about 1850s. George Washington Harkins II was granted Indian land in Coal Co. in the 1890s. We are part of the Trail of Tears in 1830s. Clovis served in army, earned an engineering degree, and retired from Santa Fe Railroad. Janyce was born in CA but lived most of her life in OK. She was a homemaker. We are proud to be "Okies" and proud to live in OK - "God's Country".
