Robert John Castor was born 1 Jul 1861 in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, the third child of James Asa Castor and the first child with his second wife, Ruth McAlister. He learned the photography trade from his father. He left Collingwood before 1880 and went to Carthage, MO, opening a photo shop with two brothers. He married Lula Belle Johnson on 19 Jul 1886. In Sep 1893 he made the Cherokee Strip Land Run and won a spot in Perry, OK. He moved to Marshall, OK. Robert John, Lula and daughter Ruth are buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Marshall.
