Collection Summary

Mix of some originals and some copies.
The Chouteau Memorial opened in Salina, Oklahoma by the descendents of Jean Pierre Chouteau. It closed its doors in 1993, only to be reopened in 1997 with a ceremony which included famed ballerina Yvonne Chouteau. The collection contains several pieces of ephemera from the Chouteau family including certificates of proclamation of Historical Day, which is celebrated in October every year in Salina, Oklahoma. There is also a folder of correspondence from C. E. Chouteau to the curator of the Memorial from the 1980s.
There is also a box of historical data from the city of Salina, such as board meeting minutes, claims, ledgers, and city correspondence.
Some other material in the collection includes three photo albums containing 71 photographs and tintypes; 1 scrapbook; 1 letter; 1 autograph book; 1 pocket New Testament; 1, 8" x 10" photograph in folder; and 5 loose photographs.
