Jim will provide an introduction and historical overview of Pinhole Cameras, students will make their own pinhole cameras using coffee cans. Jim will provide an example of camera obscura using the classroom.
Due to the natural requirements for this class there will be a raindate in case of rain or clouds.
On Saturday, June 22nd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. the Oklahoma History Center Museum will host a Usable Block Printing workshop. Participants will learn how to create and carve a block print deisgn; they will practice printing designs on fabric using small bags. Small bags are included in the ticket price, participants will be allowed to bring other white, canvas items for block printing if desired.
Participants will learn basic flower art skills and create a frame piece of art by placing dried flowers and petals in formation of a design.
Photographer and Artist Jim Meeks will teach participants the history of sun printing and how to create cyanotype art. This workshop will pay special attention to cyanotypes on fabric. Participants will create art to take home with them. Participants are encouraged to print photo negatives and objects they would like to create prints with.
Participants will learn basic knitting skills and knit a custom mug cozy for themselves or as a gift for another, they will also enjoy a hot chocolate bar and snacks.
