Buchanan to Give Water Conservation Presentation at Museum of the Western Prairie

ALTUS, Okla. — On Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. Tom Buchanan, the manager of the Lugert-Altus Irrigation District, will present “Water Conservation Efforts by the Lugert-Altus Irrigation District,” a companion program to accompany Water/Ways, the Smithsonian Museum on Main Street traveling exhibit on display in the Museum of the Western Prairie until April 11. Buchanan will delineate the water conservation efforts undertaken by the district in the last twenty years. His presentation will be followed by a panel of young farmers who will pick up the conservation story and describe the practices they have implemented as individual operators to manage an invaluable resource—water!
