Marker Search

Search by marker name, county, or topic to learn about more than 700 historical markers recognizing key locations, events, and people in Oklahoma history. This database contains markers sponsored by the Oklahoma Historical Society and markers sponsored by other organizations or individuals. In addition to the Oklahoma Historical Society, notable marker sponsors in Oklahoma include the Daughters of the American Revolution, local historical organizations, and tribal governments.

This database seeks to include the following information for each marker: location (including GPS coordinates), material (typically aluminum or granite), sponsor(s), topic categories, and a photograph. Each entry also includes a brief description of the location, event, or person being commemorated. Consult this database often, as new information is added regularly.

Some markers have been moved from their original location, while others are currently missing or may no longer exist. The markers in this database are presented as part of the historical record and may not necessarily represent the viewpoints of the Oklahoma Historical Society today. The accuracy of a historical marker ultimately rests with the sponsor(s) and should be verified through other sources when possible.
