Christmas in the Village *Canceled*

December 11, 2020, 5 p.m.9 p.m.

Event Navigation

This event has been canceled.

Come safely experience a socially distanced Victorian Christmas in the Humphrey Heritage Village at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (CSRHC) starting this Friday, November 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. Christmas in the Village will take place each Friday evening between Thanksgiving and Christmas, with the final celebration happening on Friday, December 18.

In order to keep the staff, volunteers, and the public as safe as possible, the CSRHC is creating a different experience for Christmas in the Village this year. Visitors will safely participate in an outdoor, socially distanced Christmas experience, along with touring the CSRHC’s exhibit spaces. In the Humphrey Heritage Village, there will be activities for the family, including a make and take ornament station, Christmas shopping in the Victorian Christmas store, a chance to write a letter to Santa Claus, and complimentary hot beverages.

“This year, we’re excited to offer individually packaged crafts that you can bring home and enjoy with your family,” said Neal Matherne, CSRHC director of education. “Also, as an ‘official authorized message center’ for the North Pole, we’ll have letters that can be written to Santa Claus and mailed back to the Heritage Center, that we will forward along to the North Pole just in time for Christmas!”

At 8 p.m., the CSRHC will start a special program of Christmas storytelling around the village campfire, with Christmas stories being read by CSRHC Director Jake Krumwiede and told by Rick Simpson of the Simpson Old Time Museum and Skeleton Creek Productions.

Admission to Christmas in the Village is the regular cost of admission to the CSRHC, with children ages five and under admitted free. As always, members of the CSRHC or the Oklahoma Historical Society are admitted for free!

This event is made possible through financial support from Visit Enid. The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is located at 507 South Fourth Street in Enid. For admission prices and more information about Christmas in the Village, please call 580-237-1907 or visit www.csrhc.org. The Heritage Center and Humphrey Heritage Village are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
