Joe Sears

(1949– )

Joe Sears, one of the stars and co-creators of Greater Tuna, has appeared in various incarnations throughout the years. We have known him as Bertha Bumiller, Aunt Pearl, Thurston Wheelis, Elmer Watkins, and several other leading citizens of Tuna, Texas (population 24). But first and foremost, he is a playwright, who has used his writing talents, as well as some impressive stagecraft, to create his own signature roles.

Joe, who also writes historical dramas, received a best actor Tony nomination in 1995 for his Broadway performance in A Tuna Christmas.
