We Remember...Before and Beyond:
An Oklahoma African American History Coloring Book

The Oklahoma African American history coloring book evolved from the Oklahoma Centennial Celebration. Representative Anastasia Pittman initiated the project after receiving a comment about the need for such a learning tool for young students. It features the historical contributions of African Americans to the growth and development of Oklahoma from before statehood, through, and beyond our centennial birthday.

More than twenty artists have contributed drawings which reflect their own unique and distinctive style. The artists include a talented high school student, professional cartoonist, graphic artist, portrait artist, and gallery artist.

Featuring research by Bruce Fisher, the final product will be useful not only as an art tool but also as a history and reading instrument. This book is accessible to anyone free of charge. Teachers and the public may download one or all of the images.
