Living History Education Day

The George M. Murrell Home in Park Hill is hosting a May Day Celebration Weekend on May 2-3, 2014. On Friday, May 2, the site will hold its 4th Annual Education Day for elementary and secondary schools. On Saturday, May 3, the museum will present a May Day Celebration and Lawn Social for the public.

The Education Day on Friday, May 2, is open to all public, private and home school groups. Teachers may select to visit from 9:30am-11:30am or 11:30am-1:30pm. Approximately a dozen living history presenters will demonstrate daily life on a Cherokee plantation in the mid-1800s. Blacksmithing, fiber arts, cooking, and small animal husbandry are just some of the activities available. Admission is $2.00 per student. Adult chaperones are free. Teachers or school coordinators should RSVP to Amanda Pritchett at 918-456-2751 or apritchett@okhistory.org to reserve a time slot.
