1850s Carpentry Workshop at Hunter’s Home
A workshop on Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hunter’s Home will teach visitors how someone would begin as a carpenter in the 1850s. Skilled carpenters, both free and enslaved individuals, originally built Hunter’s Home. They constructed the house entirely by hand, and their work remains 175 years later. Fall on the Farm
Learn about 19th-century living patterns at Hunter’s Home working farm on Saturday, October 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as staff prepare the farm for winter with fall chores. There will be plenty of apples, animals, demonstrations, and a story. Come and enjoy the nice fall weather and observe the changing seasons at Hunter’s Home. On Sunday, December 15, from 1 to 4 p.m., Hunter’s Home will host its annual Christmas Open House. The historic home will be decorated as it would have been at Christmas in the 1850s. This is a chance to make new Christmas memories as visitors join the festivities with Hunter’s Home staff and volunteers. Admission to Hunter’s Home will be free on December 15.
