State Historic Preservation Office to Host Webinar on Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act

OKLAHOMA CITY — On Wednesday, May 10, at 1 p.m., the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will offer a free webinar as an introduction to, or a refresher of, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).

Kristina Wyckoff, SHPO’s Section 106 coordinator and historical archaeologist, will explain the importance of the Section 106 process. Her position as coordinator is to assist people involved in that process in Oklahoma. This presentation will also include guidance for submitting projects for OKSHPO review.

The webinar will discuss the NHPA; Section 106 requirements and regulations; adverse effects on historic properties; and streamlining Section 106 reviews.
