The Chisholm to Host Two-Day Advanced Barn Quilt Workshop in July
KINGFISHER, Okla. — The Chisholm will hold a two-day advanced barn quilt workshop on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This advanced workshop allows participants to tackle more ambitious and elaborate barn quilt patterns and create their own barn quilt block.
Barn quilts are square-shaped boards painted to resemble a quilt block and then put on buildings. They have evolved into a rural development initiative to boost tourism in communities. Oklahoma State University Extension educator Lindy Hoel will lead the two-day workshop. Each participant will complete an elaborate barn quilt to take home.
Registration is required. The class is limited to 24 people. The cost is $85 per person, and it includes lunch. The workshops are for adults or teens attending with an adult. Call the museum at 405-375-5176 to register. The Chisholm is located at 605 Zellers Ave. in Kingfisher.
