October Living History Programs at Fort Gibson Historic Site to Focus on 1800s Entertainment
FORT GIBSON, Okla. — The October living history programs at Fort Gibson Historic Site will focus on entertainment methods in the 1800s.
Soldiers and civilians in the area had to find ways to entertain themselves in moments of boredom while they were so far away from family and friends. There were many ways to pass the time, but some popular pastimes included playing cards or a quick baseball game. Visitors may even get to take part in some of the entertainment.
The living history programs will take place on October 3, 4, 17, 18, 19, 25, and 26 from 10 a.m. to noon and then again from 1-4 p.m. They are included with paid admission to the site.
For more information, please call 918-478-4088. The Fort Gibson Historic Site is located at 907 N. Garrison Ave. in Fort Gibson.
