State Historic Preservation Office to Host Webinar on Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
OKLAHOMA CITY — On Monday, November 13, from 10-11 a.m., the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will present a free webinar to provide training on Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). This training is designed to provide an introduction or a refresher to Section 106 of the NHPA.
Kristina Wyckoff, Section 106 coordinator and historic archaeologist for the SHPO, will be the featured presenter. She will explain the importance of the Section 106 process and assist those who may be involved in that process in Oklahoma. Topics addressed in this presentation will include the basic requirements of Section 106, the regulations that govern the process, the process for determining National Register eligibility, what constitutes and adverse effect, mitigating adverse effects and streamlining Section 106 review. This presentation will also include guidance specific to submitting projects for OKSHPO review.
