“Brushes in the Heartland” Exhibit Opens June 9 at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid
ENID, Okla. — The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid will open the “Brushes in the Heartland” exhibit on Tuesday, June 9. The exhibit will feature the works of two art teachers, Charla Enns and Jena Kodesh. Both were raised in Oklahoma and are married to farmers, which has allowed them to develop a deep appreciation for the land and all it provides.
“Brushes in the Heartland” celebrates rural life through expressive brushstrokes and vivid imagery, paying tribute to Oklahoma’s captivating landscapes. Enns and Kodesh bring the state’s fields, wildflowers, trees and shifting skies to life, capturing the spirit of each season.
The artists crafted their works using earthy materials such as pine needles, lamb’s wool, charcoal from burnt wood, natural pigments, water and handmade pulp paper, grounding each piece in the textures and colors of the land itself.

The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
