The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center will open the Brushes in the Heartland exhibit through Saturday, August 1.

The exhibit features the works by two art teachers, Charla Enns and Jena Kodesh, who were raised in Oklahoma and developed a deep appreciation for the land and its offerings through a life of farming.

Brushes in the Heartland celebrates rural life through expressive brushstrokes and vivid imagery, paying tribute to Oklahoma’s captivating landscapes. Enns and Kodesh bring the state’s fields, wildflowers, trees, and shifting skies to life, capturing the spirit of each season.

The artists crafted their works using earthy materials like pine needles, lamb’s wool, charcoal from burnt wood, natural pigments, water, and handmade pulp paper, grounding each piece in the textures and colors of the land itself.
