“A Night of Christmas Music” live performance starring acclaimed vocalist Darla Z
December 15, 7 p.m.
Christmas is a magical time of the year. It’s a time when people come together, and smile more, and it’s a time to celebrate music. On Friday, December 15, at 7 p.m., singer/songwriter Darla Z will perform “A Night of Christmas Music” live at the Oklahoma History Center in a benefit concert for the Center.
Sure to be a night filled with your favorite Christmas tunes, Darla Z will perform some of the season’s greatest hits, including “O Holy Night,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and the most beloved of Christmas songs, “White Christmas.” With a voice often described as sounding like Karen Carpenter, Darla Z’s lovely voice has earned her international acclaim, including being named Best International Singer of the Year (2023) by Rome Movie Awards, Best International Singer by Sweet Democracy Film Awards (Cannes, France), and Best Vocalist by International Sound Awards (Prague, Czech Republic). Darla began her musical career opening in concert for Willie Nelson, and since that time, she has performed repeatedly in Las Vegas, worked with Wayne Newton multiple times, and has starred in three public television music specials, including the beloved “Darla Z’s Christmas ‘Round the World.”
“I’m so excited to be singing and performing in a Christmas benefit concert for the Oklahoma History Center,” Darla Zuhdi said. “Not only is it going to be a night filled with great Christmas music, it will give some Oklahomans who haven’t been to the History Center the opportunity to see just how beautiful the building is and learn first-hand the incredibly interesting artifacts and exhibits it contains. These exhibits show just how much the people of Oklahoma’s significant and historic contributions have meant to the world and to Oklahoma,” she added.
The year 2023 has been busy for Darla. A song she wrote and recorded, “To All the Gabbys in the World” released in June, both by video and garnering millions of views, and on streaming services worldwide, was written by her to help and inspire victims of domestic abuse. The song and music video, also scripted by her, was Directed by Oklahoma’s own Rick Walker, and has received over 30 International Awards, including Best Original Song, Best Score, and Best Music Video. As a special treat during her Christmas concert, the audience will hear her sing her song, “To All the Gabbys in the World.”
Special guests include renowned comedian and musician Al Fike, who has shared the stage with the legendary Bob Hope, Zig Ziglar, Ricky Skaggs, Lee Greenwood and many others. His performance will showcase his comical talent and musical aptitude. It’s also a sure bet Santa Claus will make an appearance and give guests the opportunity to take a photo with him or perhaps ask him to grant their special Christmas wish.
