On February 14 and February 21, from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 4 p.m., Fort Gibson Historian Seth Goff will conduct a living history program discussing the complicated process of resupplying the Union Army at Fort Gibson.

During the Civil War, Union forces made headway against the Confederacy in Indian territory by capturing Fort Gibson at the end of 1862. However, the Union soldiers at Fort Gibson faced a massive logistical challenge. Their supplies had to be shipped down a 200-mile-long supply line from Fort Scott, Kansas. This made it very difficult to keep the army fed and resupplied.

Seth Goff, as site interpreter, will give a living history program that provides an overview of Union Army logistics and demonstrates some of the basic food supplies and other necessities the Union soldiers received from Fort Scott.

The program is included with admission. Interested guests should check in at the Palisade admissions office located across the parade square from the entrance gate. Dress accordingly for February weather in Oklahoma.
