Everyday Oklahoma: “Calabooses in Oklahoma with Michael Mayes” webinar

September 24, 2 p.m.3 p.m.

Event Navigation

Tiny jails in Oklahoma will be the topic of a free webinar hosted by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) on Tuesday, September 24, at 2 p.m.

There are tiny buildings still standing across the state. Many of them were used as calabooses, also called tiny jails. Michael Mayes, SHPO’s survey coordinator, will examine Oklahoma’s calabooses and discuss how the state tackled crime decades ago, the integrity of resources, the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory, and the National Register of Historic Places and its criteria. Registration is required. For more information, contact Michael Mayes at 405-522-6028 or michael.mayes@history.ok.gov.
