Monogrammed Brick Stories
Brick: Daviee, Olin W., Edna M., Mayr
Contributed by Betty M. Daviee
Olin Welborn Daviee and Edna Verne Mitchell were married September 6, 1906, (i.e. before statehood) in Shawnee. They settled in Oklahoma City where Olin, a tinsmith, founded and operated Daviee Sheet Metal Company. They had two children, Mayre Laverne and Jack Mitchell. Family legend is that Olin added the second letter e to the family surname to discourage people from mistakenly adding a letter s to the end of the name.

In 2012 the Oklahoma Historical Society invited those who purchased one of the monogrammed bricks paving the Red River Journey at the Oklahoma History Center to share about the person or group their brick honors. Below is a list of those who submitted stories and the message shown on their brick. Use the links below to read the contributed story.
This project was made possible by a generous donation from Catherine B. Wootten.
