Robert Lincoln Link Barr was born just after the end of the Civil War and lived the life of a ruggedly-independent cowboy/cowpuncher on the western prairies. His family homesteaded in KS in 1884. In 1889 he sold his KS land and became a sooner. From 1885 to 1893 (when he ran for land in the Cherokee Strip) he worked in the Strip. In 1899 he sold his Strip land and bought land in Dover. He married a local girl and had seven children. In 1921 he was a founding member of the Cherokee Strip Cowpunchers Assn. He died in 1925.

In 2012 the Oklahoma Historical Society invited those who purchased one of the monogrammed bricks paving the Red River Journey at the Oklahoma History Center to share about the person or group their brick honors. Below is a list of those who submitted stories and the message shown on their brick. Use the links below to read the contributed story.
This project was made possible by a generous donation from Catherine B. Wootten.
