Monogrammed Brick Stories
Brick: Busby, Orel
Contributed by David Busby
Orel Busby (1889–1965) arrived in Allen, Indian Territory, in a wagon, from his birthplace in Arkansas. The family moved to Konawa, where he taught in a one-room school, and, at 20, was elected The Youngest Mayor in the USA. A member of the first graduating class of East Central University, he graduated from OU Law School and later served on the OU Board of Regents. He served as judge on the County and District Courts, and as a Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. He was elected President of the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. He was listed in Who's Who in America.

In 2012 the Oklahoma Historical Society invited those who purchased one of the monogrammed bricks paving the Red River Journey at the Oklahoma History Center to share about the person or group their brick honors. Below is a list of those who submitted stories and the message shown on their brick. Use the links below to read the contributed story.
This project was made possible by a generous donation from Catherine B. Wootten.
