Event Navigation
The Fort Towson Historic Site will host a hair flower workshop with Amy Armstrong, Living History Coordinator at the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas. The workshop will be on September 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Towson Historic Site. The cost is $20 for Arkansas Living History Association members or $35 for non-members.
Armstrong is known in the living history community for the delicate works of art she creates using only historic tools, hair, and a few embellishments. Woven throughout the class will be lessons about the cultural significance of saving hair to use in wreaths and lockets to remember lost loved ones or celebrate achievement. Guests will learn to craft historically accurate representations of Victorian-era hair flowers and leaves using synthetic hair.
